Face-to-Face Instruction

Eastfield College Library offers a number of options for face-to-face instruction. From our standard 50 minute 'one-shot' session (Research 101) to more customized, collaborative and iterative multi-session arrangements. 

Research 101

Our 50 minute Research 101 session can be hosted in your classroom or in the library's instructional room (L208). This session can be requested 'out-of-the-box' or can be customized to meet the needs of a specific assignment or discipline. The standard Research 101 session will cover the following topics:

  • Introduction to the research process
  • Basic library catalog searching
  • Basic database searching
  • Scholarly vs. popular sources
  • Basic citation style
  • Basic source evaluation

Advanced Single Topic Sessions

If you are committed to engaging your students with ongoing information literacy instruction throughout the semester, we offer a number of in-depth 30-50 minute single topic sessions, including:

  • Advanced library catalog searching
  • Advanced database searching
  • Advanced website evaluation
  • Advanced citation style (MLA or APA)
  • Copyright and research
  • Academic integrity
  • Every-day information literacy online or in the workplace

Build-Your-Own

You can also select topics you would like covered in a customized session. Please keep in mind the time requirements to adequately cover each topic:
