Guidelines for Borrowing Library Materials

Guidelines

ELIGIBLE BORROWERS

Library materials may be loaned to the following individuals:

  • Currently enrolled DCCCD students, faculty, administrators, staff, and retirees
  • TexShare cardholders
BORROWING LIMITS

The number of items a user may borrow is as follows:

  • Currently enrolled DCCCD students, faculty, administrators, staff, and retirees – limit of ten (10) items
  • TexShare cardholders – limit of two (2) items
IDENTIFICATION REQUIRED

All users, including TexShare cardholders, must present an acceptable form of identification in order to borrow library materials. Acceptable forms of identification include:

  • DCCCD ID card
  • Government issued ID card (e.g., driver license, state ID, passport, etc.)
  • High school ID card
  • Work ID card
TEXSHARE
  • TexShare applications for Eastfield College students and staff are available at the Library Information Services Desk. TexShare cards are valid for the semester during which a student is enrolled. Staff and Faculty are issued a TexShare card for one year.
  • Patrons not affiliated with Eastfield College will need to obtain a TexShare card from their public library in order to check out materials from Eastfield.
MATERIALS TO BE CIRCULATED

A maximum of ten (10) items may be charged to a patron's record at one time. Circulating items consist of books, CDs, DVDs. Items may be renewed for an additional loan period if there is not a hold from another patron on the item.  

All reference books, periodicals, and reserve items are to be used in Library Only.

RETURNING MATERIALS

Materials may be returned to any DCCCD College library.

OVERDUE MATERIALS

All materials checked out from the Library are considered overdue if not returned to the library by the due date.

  • The first notice, sent on the second day after the due date, is emailed to the patron and a block is placed on the patron's account.
  • The second notice, sent on the fifth day after the due date, is emailed to the patron.
  • The final notice, sent on the twenty-first day after the due date, is emailed to the patron.

Blocks prohibit further check out of library materials, registration, receipts of grades and transcripts, etc.

Lost or Damaged Materials

Library users are responsible for all materials checked out to them. Any materials that are lost or damaged will be assessed a replacement fee. Unpaid replacement fees will result in a block on the library user’s account.
