Eastfield Library's instruction program strives to equip students with the critical skills, habits of mind, and dispositions that are hallmarks of information literacy.

The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) defines information literacy as:

"The set of integrated abilities encompassing the reflective discovery of information, the understanding of how information is produced and valued, and the use of information in creating new knowledge and participating ethically in communities of learning."*

We believe that information literacy is essential for effective learning and practice within and across the disciplines-- as well as for engaged citizenship and active service to the community.
